Lizzo’s “weight loss journey” has reached its preliminary peak! The American singer recently shared a before-and-after photo where she’s barely recognizable. She also revealed how she managed to lose a significant amount of weight and shed a lot of body fat. At the same time, she cleared up a few rumors.
Her fans usually know Lizzo as a tough and extremely confident woman who speaks her mind and strongly advocates for body positivity. The (former) plus-size rapper often appears scantily clad in public, showing a lot of skin. But that’s over now! At least regarding her own body, as the 37-year-old is slimmer than ever. Over the past few months, fans could follow the visual transformation of the 37-year-old “Rumors” singer on Instagram, as Lizzo lost more and more weight, reportedly shedding an impressive 16 percent body fat. Speculations ranged from Ozempic to weight loss surgery and cosmetic procedures. Nonsense! Now the whole world knows her true secret to success.

Lizzo Makes It Clear: “I’m Busting My Butt…”
Recently, Lizzo posted a picture on Instagram showing her minimally dressed before and after her weight loss. And the photos are the result of hard work, not any weight loss injections. “Considering all these magazines and blogs that so want to see me on Ozempic–here’s the truth,” she wrote alongside the image.
“I’m busting my butt, working out three times a week, going to the sauna daily, doing cardio, reintroducing animal protein into my diet, hiring a chef to help prepare meals and track what I put into my body to achieve a calorie deficit,” she revealed. Additionally, activities like pickleball, hiking, dancing, and beach walks helped her lose weight. She also mentioned drinking plenty of water and detoxifying her body once a month through lymphatic drainage. Unhealthy soft drinks or potato chips have been removed from her diet. With visible success! “I’m so happy and proud of what I’ve accomplished, and no one can take that away from me,” she concluded.

Lizzo Wins the Battle Against the Pounds
Lizzo had already achieved her initial weight loss goal more than six months ago. In January, she shared on her Instagram account that she had lost a significant amount of body fat over the past two years. “I did it,” she captioned the post back then.
“When I stepped on my scale today, I reached my goal to reduce my weight. I haven’t seen this number since 2014! Let this be a reminder that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Time for new goals!” Lizzo continued.
The statistics on her photos also revealed that the four-time Grammy winner had lowered her body mass index by 10.5 and lost 16 percent of her body fat. Wow!
Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner: Lizzo’s Meal Plan
In addition to an active and sporty lifestyle, Lizzo naturally also changed her diet. In July of this year, she spoke with Women’s Health about it. Her meals today mainly consist of protein and vegetables.
It starts in the morning. For breakfast, she has two scrambled eggs, chicken sausage, and a cauliflower hash brown. That gives a lot of energy for the day! Lunch is light and fresh, such as a Thai chicken salad or salad wraps with tuna or chicken breast strips. For dinner, she has turkey meatloaf with cauliflower puree and green beans on the menu–and always before 5 p.m.!
“I suffer from GERD, so my body needs time to digest the food before going to bed to prevent acid from rising into my throat,” Lizzo explained. GERD, or gastroesophageal reflux disease, causes chronic heartburn. And no one likes to fall asleep with that!
Occasionally, Lizzo treats herself to snacks like low-sugar Greek yogurt with blueberries or blackberries and a bit of honey, but she also indulges in small sins. Although she replaced her beloved Frappuccino with coffee and vanilla protein during the day, she can’t resist waffles with chicken strips or crab legs and donuts with coconut cream. In moderation, not in masses! “It’s all about balance. I think that’s true health,” Lizzo said.
On Eating Disorders and Cravings
That the U.S. singer can restrict and discipline herself with food today was a real challenge. Lizzo suffered from eating disorders and binge eating in adulthood. Sometimes she ate so much that her stomach hurt. She felt guilty but kept it to herself. “I had so much to do with food and associated so many emotions with it. When I was sad, anxious, stressed, or working a lot, I constantly snacked and ate. Then I waited until everyone was gone, secretly ordered two separate dishes from a food delivery service, and then a dessert from another,” Lizzo confessed about her former self.

In May 2023, she made a change. Lizzo began focusing on mental health to find inner balance and stop being ashamed of her body. “The training helped me mainly for my mind, not my body,” she said. Only after dealing with her psyche did she switch to a healthy lifestyle.
Consequently, the pounds dropped. And yes, she initially experimented with Ozempic. “I’ve tried everything,” Lizzo admitted. “For me, it’s just a matter of science, calorie intake vs. calorie expenditure. Ozempic works because you consume less food. You feel full.” Yet, after some time, she returned to the mind-over-matter method instead of the controversial medication. Today, Lizzo makes it clear: “I’ve never regretted a workout. I always feel better afterward. I primarily train for mental health. Exercise is the best mood booster.”
The effects of her hard work went even further and became noticeable in her daily life. Severe back pain and disc damage due to too many excess pounds? Finally over! “I couldn’t wear heels for long periods,” she says. “Now, baby, I wear heels in the supermarket!” No question, Lizzo is happy about her restored self-confidence. “I’m proud of the person I’ve become. I feel like I’ve turned everything I’ve been through into growth.”
