They play superheroes, are stars of successful action series, and seem not to be happy without intense workouts in their private lives either: FITBOOK presents six stars who are over 40 years old (and younger than 50) and super fit. What training do they rely on, and how do they manage to stay in top shape at an age when fitness typically declines?
Chris Hemsworth (43)
Actor, over 40, and a pure muscle package–of course, we’re talking about Chris Hemsworth. The 43-year-old has perfected the physical transformation for his role as “Thor” in numerous Marvel films–and even turned it into his own fitness brand.
The Australian focuses on functional training. He combines heavy strength training sessions with compound exercises like deadlifts, squats, various presses (such as bench presses) with boxing and Jiu-Jitsu. In other words, Hemsworth trains both strength and endurance equally. Additionally, he maintains an active lifestyle with numerous outdoor activities. His favorite sport–unsurprisingly–is surfing.
Since the father of three discovered he is genetically predisposed to Alzheimer’s, recovery has also become a priority. This means he now pays more attention to rest and adequate sleep alongside intense workouts.

Alan Ritchson (43)
Action, muscles, and exciting fights–this can only mean “Reacher.” He is played by Alan Ritchson, who faced significant pressure at the start of the series to transform into a true muscle package. The actor revealed this in a podcast interview in 2026. Ritchson took on the challenge. Previously training mainly with his body weight, he changed his strategy to quickly gain 20 kilograms of muscle mass. Now he focuses on short, high-intensity sessions, mostly divided into supersets. He ensures his heart rate is elevated and works with sets of 15 to 25 repetitions.
To what extent a testosterone therapy might have helped the 43-year-old in his transformation, you can find out in this FITBOOK article.
John Krasinski (46)
Few would have guessed that John Krasinski, long known primarily for his role in “The Office,” would play Jack Ryan and develop a six-pack. For the role in the popular thriller series, the actor sculpted his body. The result: impressive muscles and, according to the Australian “Men’s Health,” a body fat percentage of just nine percent!
Chris Evans (45)
Alongside Thor star Chris Hemsworth, another Chris and Marvel hero makes the list of super fit stars over 40: of course, it’s Chris Evans, aka Captain America. To physically transform into a superhero, the actor worked with a trainer specifically on muscle building. However, athleticism, agility, and combat were also part of the Marvel fitness concept for Evans. Simply looking like a superhero wasn’t enough; Evans also had to move like one and be fit for stunts–to perform them credibly and safely without injury.

Kevin Hart (47)
Comedian and actor Kevin Hart might not be the first to come to mind when thinking of fit stars, but that’s unjust. For the 47-year-old, fitness is a high priority. He trains six days a week, focusing mainly on strength training. His routine includes isometric exercises like planks and workouts with heavy weights. But cardio is also important to him. And the Hollywood star doesn’t run out of breath easily: He has completed several marathons.
Jason Momoa (47)
Aquaman Jason Momoa is also an impressive physical presence at 47. Like Alan Ritchson and The Rock–who didn’t make this list only because of his age of 54–Jason Momoa’s name is synonymous with massive muscles. He trains for them, of course, in the gym, doing kettlebell swings and classic weight exercises. Otherwise, the actor enjoys outdoor activities like sprinting, climbing, and cycling. Boxing is also part of his fitness program.
