FITBOOK met the 20-year-old at a sports field in Berlin for an interview and learned how she trains, how she motivates herself–and what tips she gives to amateur runners to get faster.

Alica Schmidt became known to a larger audience in September 2017 when the U.S. magazine “Busted Coverage” noticed her perfect Instagram photos and awarded the German young sprinter the title “World’s Hottest Track Athlete.” What followed, you can almost guess: The Instagram account of the now 20-year-old exploded to nearly 500,000 followers.

Alica Schmidt wants to be taken seriously as an athlete
All the attention is almost a bit uncomfortable for the shy young woman. Alica emphasizes to FITBOOK that she doesn’t want to be recognized just for her sexy vacation photos, but for her performance on the track. At 20 years old, Alica is still young for a track and field athlete. She has not yet reached her peak performance. Her big dream: the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo!
