Officially announced on April 1, 2025, the takeover of Fit/One by Fitness First is now visible and tangible in individual studios. Thirty-seven Fit/One gyms are now expanding Fitness First’s offerings in Germany, with four more studios added in Austria. But what does this mean for Fit/One members? Will their contracts remain valid, and can they expect changes in training facilities and courses? FITBOOK has the answers.

In the spring, the largest transaction in the LifeFit Group’s history (which includes Fitness First) made headlines, with reports from outlets such as “Fitness Management” about the gym takeover. Fitness First is expanding to more than 200 studios and is also moving into Austria. That’s the corporate side. For those training, the practical effects of the takeover are of interest. Indeed, there are changes for Fit/One members, while other important aspects remain the same.

Are Fit/One Contracts Still Valid?

The most important questions are answered by Fit/One and Fitness First in a joint Instagram post. This includes whether the old Fit/One contracts remain valid or if members need a new contract. “Your membership fee and contract duration remain unchanged, and you can continue to train for the same amount,” is the official response from the fitness studios.

Fit/One customers do not need to take any action themselves. This is also emphasized in the Instagram post: “We will handle all changes for you! You can continue to use the facilities and services in full. We ensure that you seamlessly benefit from the improvements and changes. Your membership status remains unchanged, and you can enjoy the fitness offerings as usual.”

Not Everything Is Running Smoothly Yet

“Currently, there seem to be some issues with merging the two brands. I have been using Fit/One with Wellhub. And although access to the wellness area is included in my contract, it hasn’t been working yet. The card hasn’t been activated for it. This has been going on for almost a week now. An employee told me it might take longer. In such cases, you should simply report to the reception.”

Update: “On October 13, I received a friendly email from a LifeFit Group employee stating that access to the sauna and wellness area was restricted, but everything has been resolved. It has been working perfectly since then.”

More on the topic

More Courses, Equipment, and Studios

The mentioned “improvements and changes” seem to primarily involve new training offerings, more equipment, and courses. Training supervision and support are also expected to improve. Additionally, trainees can expect more than 800 online home workouts and a new member app. Here, former Fit/One members apparently benefit from Fitness First’s larger offerings. They also have more studios to choose from. Instead of the nearly 40 Fit/One gyms, they can now choose from over 200 Fitness First gyms, depending on their contract.1 According to the joint statement from Fit/One and Fitness First: “Once the member software migration is complete, you will have access to all Fitness First clubs (Red and Black). As a Red member, you train for free in the Red clubs. In the exclusive Black clubs, you can train for a fee of €15 per session.”

Opening Hours and Gym Teams

“For now” – according to the official wording – the usual opening hours of the previous Fit/One studios will remain. However, members should expect that this might change. What is supposed to remain unchanged: the teams at Fit/One studios. Members will not encounter new staff at the reception, on the training floor, or in courses. “You can continue to rely on the familiar team,” is the response to the corresponding question on Instagram.
