Normally, you wouldn’t necessarily call minced meat rolls a “light meal.” But with our FITfuttern recipe, even those conscious of their figure can enjoy the Southeast European classic without any guilt: Cevapcici.
For dishes with ground meat, fatty (and therefore cheaper) meat is usually used. Consequently, many think that burger patties, meat skewers, and the like must automatically be calorie bombs. But that’s only the case if you have no control over the ingredients used!

FITfuttern has taken on a specialty that is considered a national dish in Croatia, Serbia, AND Bosnia and Herzegovina. In the past, the spicy meat rolls were mostly made from lamb, while today they are usually prepared with pork or beef. We use minced beef (also called beefsteak tartare) – meat from the lean parts of the beef, such as the top round, ground through a meat grinder. It is trimmed of tendons by the butcher and is classically used for hamburger steaks or (raw) tartare, making it a higher-quality option. With about six percent fat and around 21(!) grams of protein per 100 grams, minced beef is still wonderfully tasty and doesn’t require strong seasoning. The side dish can be all the more varied and colorful.
