A virtual “High Five” to everyone who participated in Session 2 of the FITBOOK Move Jam 2021 and powered through the challenging workouts. Our coaches Alex Hipwell and Shagel Butt really made those muscles burn. Missed the session? No problem–it’s available in full in the video above.
If you wanted to refresh your sore muscles from FITBOOK Move Jam Session 1 last weekend, Session 2 was the perfect choice. Host Chris Wackert announced it correctly. The 40 minutes of “Leg Blast” with Shagel Butt and the bodyweight training with fitness star Alex Hipwell were intense.
Burning Thighs in the “Leg Blast” with Shagel Butt
After a brief talk where Crossfit star Shagel Butt–this year’s headliner of the FITBOOK Move Jam–gave important tips on injury prevention, the session kicked off. The agenda included a demanding workout for the leg muscles, or as Shagel calls it: “Leg Blast”–consisting of a warm-up and the main workout. As always, no equipment is needed, but Shagel recommends a soft surface, such as a training mat, pillow, or carpet, “so your knees don’t scrub on the hard floor!”
Joining in at the Berlin Heeresbäckerei were this year’s fitness influencers: dancer Jolanda, yoga instructor Kimi, and sports scientist José. They battled through squat jumps, glute bridges, and more with the FITBOOK community.
Expert Talk with Nutrition Expert Dr. Mareike Awe
After the first workout, Dr. Mareike Awe joined the studio. The expert in intuitive eating discussed questions submitted by FITBOOK readers about nutrition with host Chris Wackert and Shagel Butt. Awe emphasized the importance of listening to your own body when eating–returning to natural eating habits and paying attention to hunger and satiety cues. This is often the right path to achieving your ideal weight, rather than strict diet and nutrition plans that many of us fail to follow. She also provided valuable tips on maintaining a relaxed relationship with food and your body, especially during lockdown, contributing to mental health.

Bodyweight Training with Fitness Star Alex Hipwell
For the second workout of Session 2 of the FITBOOK Move Jam 2021, Chris Wackert welcomed a strong woman who definitely isn’t afraid of heavy weights: fitness star Alex Hipwell. Even though her time as a professional bodybuilder is over, she loves challenging her body in different ways. She has a tip for women who are afraid of weight training: “Just try it out! It’s not enough to just read about it or watch it. It often comes across differently than it actually is.”
For the workout Alex Hipwell brought to the FITBOOK Move Jam, you don’t need weights. Her bodyweight training uses your own body weight to push you to your limits! Promise!
So, what are you waiting for? Just press “Play” above and join in! And don’t forget: it continues next Saturday!
An important note: Please participate as much as your fitness level allows. It’s good to push to the limit when your muscles burn, but don’t overdo it. It’s no shame to take a short break to recover. If you feel dizzy or nauseous, stop the workout immediately. If symptoms persist, please consult your doctor.
